Work / Presentation Ties

Looking to make an impression at daily work or an important presentation? Gearing up for that all important career make or break presentation? We suggest wearing a solid, classically striped, geometric foulard pattern or polka dot tie, given that the present a polished, smart appearance.

  Dressing for an interview requires a certain level of professionalism, that solid, geometric foulard pattern, striped or polka dot ties can present! For an interview setting, we suggest opting for a burgundy, navy or grey tie. Burgundy and navy ties, as mentioned earlier, exhibit a sense of professionalism, while grey ties offer a neutral look – which is also ideal for an interview setting!

Choosing your wedding tie depends on a lot of factors – such as the season the wedding will be held in, the type of venue, the theme color of the wedding and bridesmaids’ gown colors. With The Dark Knot’s filtered search system, one can find ties based on matching bridesmaids’ gown colors!

Matching Tie Colors 

Generally speaking, we would consider either a monochromatic color scheme, that involves pairing a darker variation of the shirt’s color, e.g light blue shirt with a navy tie, or a light pink shirt with a burgundy tie.

Alternatively, you can go for a triadic color scheme, which involves pairing a warmer color with a cooler color, creating an effective level of contrast. Examples include pairing a light blue shirt with a burgundy tie, or a light pink shirt with a navy tie.

Matching Tie Patterns

First things first – stick to solid dress shirts if in doubt! If you do decided to pair your patterned tie with a patterned dress shirt, it is critical to note that pattern proportion is more important than pattern variation! Hence, a larger striped silk tie will pair perfectly with a narrowly striped shirt. Conversely, a larger spaced foulard or floral tie will pair exquisitely with a narrowly striped or micro checkered dress shirt.

Our ties tie the perfect knot. I mean, how could we call ourselves ‘The Dark Knot’, if our tie knot game didn’t back that up?!? As a result of the high quality silk that we have used, along with a strong, rich double layer of wool and cotton interlining and hand sewn slip stitch , our ties at The Dark Knot tie an immaculate, dimple infused knot every time.

Our ties are highly durable. Each of our ties are constructed with a hand sewn slip stitch (versus a machine stitch), providing the tie with flexibility to return to its original shape after it has been tied and untied. A hand sewn slip stitch is slightly looser than a machine stitch, allowing the tie to move along this hidden stitch thread. This ensures that the tie maintains its shape.

Our ties provide the least inconvenience possible. Each of our ties come with two tie clips (one disposable), that slide through the reverse end of your tie and clip to two shirt buttons, thereby helping keep your ties firmly in place. Remember those steak dinners where you have to throw your tie over your shoulder or tuck it in between your shirt buttons. Yeah, you won’t ever have to worry about that again!
